The Challenge

Sunlight brand observed that the traditional weavers in Bengal were struggling in recent years due to shifting market demands and the development of power looms. The situation has gotten worse thanks to Covid-19. Sunlight brand wanted to do something about this changing landscape.

They approached us with the notion of aiding Bengali weavers through a one-of-a-kind programme called “Sunlight Tantir Rong,” which aims to restore colours to the lives of the weavers who have provided colours to our lives. The objective at hand was to create a one-of-a-kind marketing pack that matched the fundamental concept by featuring exquisite Bengal weaves motifs on the pack itself.

The Solution

The primary challenge we faced was incorporating some of the famous Bengal weaves recognised by the brand team onto the pack. The basic design of the Sunlight pack was already bold and colourful. We decided to replace the classic colourful rays on the pack with a special Bengal weaves pattern. The goal was to stay distinct while also being connected to Sunlight’s base pack style.

We also worked on the Sunlight logo and added threads to the pack that complemented the weaving story. The dynamic QR code in the traditional fabric pattern connected users to a larger campaign at https://paramacalcutta.com, where local weavers collaborated with a well-known fashion designer to promote and sell their exquisite sarees. The new Sunlight pack became an instant hit and was loved by all stakeholders and it beautifully incorporated purpose on the pack.
